The Isle of Purbeck is famous for its dramatic landscape and spectacular rock formations along the Jurassic Coast, not forgetting its picturesque villages.

Until 16 March, the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in Bournemouth is staging the first exhibition dedicated solely to artists who have captured this area of Dorset since the beginning of the 20th century.

To provide a unique insight into this exhibition, curator Dr Gill Clarke will be giving a talk to u3a members at Petersfield Community Centre on Wednesday 19 February at 2.30pm.

Artists of Purbeck: Spirit of Place showcases artworks by Paul Nash, Frances Hodgkins, Augustus John, Mark Gertler, Lesley Ward and many others.

Dates for your Diary

Other open meetings (also featuring guest speakers) coming up at the Community Centre over the next few weeks are:

Monday 10 February at 2.30pm: Women, the home front and the Spanish flu

Tuesday 18 February at 2pm: Ultra-processed foods

Tuesday 25 February at 2pm: Communications across the oceans
