Hands Up!
Petersfield U3A - We’d Love Your Help

Our Petersfield U3A Volunteers - without you, we just cannot function! Incredibly, at Petersfield U3A, we have over 60 interest groups varying from Arts and Heritage, Film and Music, Sports and Science, Languages, Gardening and much more. We rely completely on the wonderful job that our Volunteers, Group Coordinators and their Teams do in keeping these interesting and enjoyable activities thriving.
Whether you enjoy organising, chatting to people, or are simply curious to try something new, there’s a role to suit you. Full support is always provided, and time commitments are very manageable. Below are areas where we need some of your help:-
Hub Coordinator - Indoor Activities (Shared Role)
With over 60 Activity Groups, 5 Hubs have been created to ease communication and liaison between themselves and the Management Committee. The Indoor Activity Hub includes 12 groups, and their Convenors will meet 3 times a year.
The Hub Coordinator would arrange and help run the 3 Hub meetings. We’re looking for 2-3 people who are keen organisers to join a team to put these meetings together. You will be fully supported by Jenny Stevinson, who is the current Indoor Hub Coordinator, and who will guide you and be on hand whenever you need help.
If you would like to know more, please contact Jenny, our Hubs Coordinator
Groups Coordinator Assistant
Do you enjoy organising and communicating with people, and keeping things ticking along nicely?
Our Groups Coordination Team supports the heart of Petersfield U3A, and we’re looking for 2 or 3 friendly helpers to join the team. If you like working with people, are comfortable with email and some simple computer work, and enjoy problem-solving and organisation, this role might suit you. There will be plenty of support with a very flexible time commitment; we’ll shape it around you.
If you would like to know more, please contact Bernice, our Groups Lead and Vice Chair
IT Volunteer Opportunities - U3A Petersfield
U3A Petersfield is introducing new digital tools to make the running of the organisation easier and more efficient, and to improve the online experience for our members.
To make this happen, we need to grow our IT Team, and we’re looking for volunteers who would like to help. You don’t need to be an expert - just interested in technology and willing to learn. If you enjoy solving problems and helping others, this could be for you.
We will provide you with training and support, and you will be part of a team in which collaboration is key. Some of the things we’re working on include:
- Email collaboration tool deployment and maintenance
- Website maintenance
- Database management
- Workflow automation
For the more technically minded, experience in any of the following areas would be a bonus, but not required.
- Systems Management
- Microsoft Exchange, Teams, Power Automate, Dataverse for Teams
- WordPress and the technical and creative skills to design and curate our website.
- Any scripting languages and techniques, e.g. Powershell, Graph API, JavaScript, JSON, Python, VBA…
If you’d like to join us, or find out more, please contact IT Support. We’d love to hear from you.
Audio Visual Assistant/Projectionist
Members at Petersfield U3A enjoy our regular Open Talks and various presentations throughout the year. Obviously, when the speakers arrive to give their talk, we want them to be able to plug into our system easily, so we ensure that the computer and projector are out of the cupboards, plugged in, and the microphone is working. We are looking for another 2 friendly and willing members to help with this task. One of our long-term helpers will run through it with you, and even if a problem did arise on one of your allotted days, there will always be others to assist, and who know the system, so you do not need to be any sort of expert! You would only be asked to commit to 2 or 3 afternoon sessions over a 4-month period.
If you would like to know more, please contact Paul Tracy, our Audio Visual Coordinator
