What help is available from Citizens Advice?

Event type: Meeting
Date: 16th September 2025
Time: 14:00
Group: Health Matters - OPEN
Venue: Petersfield Community Centre

Talk by Ellie Hayward

The talk will cover the various advice topics that we can help with at Citizens Advice. These include:

  • General overview of the benefits system and what could be claimed
  • Consumer issues, e.g. problems with a builder
  • Housing issues, e.g. problems with a neighbour
  • Overview of the energy help that we can provide
  • Research & campaigns - issues with parking at QA hospital

The research & campaigns aspect of the talk is letting people know that we can help if anyone has had problems with parking at QA hospital, and also collect information so that we can take this to QA and get their procedures changed.

Ellie is happy to answer questions during the talk and afterwards. If anyone has any questions that are outside of these advice areas, she is more than happy to try and answer them and can always refer someone into our service if she cannot. She will be bringing physical leaflets with her as well.

A 10-minute talk by Lou Bushell of Local Treasures will follow the above event.

Lou will be introducing the work of Local Treasures, with a particular focus on their Companionship service—a friendly, practical way to get a bit of extra help at home from someone you can trust. All Local Treasures companions and helpers are carefully vetted, reference-checked, and chosen for their kindness and reliability, so you can feel confident about who’s coming through your door.

Lou has lived in and around Petersfield all her life. She’s worked as a Companion herself and has also arranged support for her own mother when she needed it, so she understands just how important it is to have the right person by your side. Lou truly believes that staying independent at home, with a little help when needed, is one of the best ways to enjoy later life.
