Health Matters - OPEN

Status:Active, open to new members
Convenor:
When: Monthly on Tuesday afternoons
Meet on the 3rd Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Open to all u3a members
Venue: Petersfield Community Centre

The meeting aims to provide an opportunity for members to develop a better understanding of current issues which impact on the health and well-being of the population with some, but not exclusive, emphasis on those affecting older people. See the What`s On page for details of the forthcoming meetings.

The meetings can take various formats but frequently involve talks by health professionals in current practice as well as others from academic/research backgrounds. The talks are supported by question and discussion sessions which further explore the topic. Topics can include all aspects of health and wellbeing but the accent is on recent developments in the field and on looking to possible future developments.

On occasions there may be an opportunity to become involved in, and contribute to, health research programmes. Recently members have been involved in taking part in a research project at Surrey University on the relationship between Vision and Alzheimer’s disease as well as contributing to a doctoral programme on ethics in the health service.

Everybody from across Petersfield u3a is welcome whether you an ex-health professional, interested in the topics we address or prepared to actively help our NHS. The meetings are not for hypochondriacs, free GP consultations, or for complaining about the health service!!
