Experienced, novice or just curious?
All members are warmly invited to take part in (or watch) the 2^nd Backgammon Christmas Tournament, being held at St Peters Court, Hylton Road on Monday 16 December at 10am.
Details of how to register to join in (playing a simplified and friendly version of the game) are available on the website.
This will be the Backgammon group’s final meeting of the year.

Around & About

• Sculptures by world-famous Philip Jackson, an obelisk commemorating Richard Cobden (a free trade pioneer of the mid 1800s), and lunch at the Cadence Café on Cocking Hill were among the highlights of a recent day out for the Country Walking group.
• Thanks go to everyone who filled in the green forms at the AGM and came up with a wide variety of suggestions for new groups. The Group Coordination team is now researching all the ideas, so watch this space!

MC Matters

The Management Committee (MC) has a new look following elections at the AGM.
Welcome on board to Pauline Kneen (Volunteers), Tim Willans (IT), Bernice O’Reilly (Groups), Rose Noonan (Secretary), Doreen Challen (Minutes) and Titian Fleming (Speakers).

As 2024 starts drawing to a close, it’s an appropriate time to acknowledge the outstanding contribution made by four u3a members (all of whom have stepped down from their roles during the year).
Sincere thanks go to Lynn Battersby-Vogt (Speakers Secretary), John Donlan (IT Support), Les Jarman (‘Connect’), and Robina Whitehorn (Secretary) for all their hard work and commitment.
