Cancelled talk on sepsis
Earlier this month (16 June), the talk by John McCarthy was cancelled at short notice because he had been admitted to hospital. Peggy, Sandra and Elaine were unable to reach everyone with the last-minute cancellation message and so went to the hall to explain to the few people who turned up.
John wrote with his most sincere apologies for being unable to give his talk, especially as it had been booked and anticipated for over a year! As a survivor of sepsis, he remains very vulnerable to infection, so when he was admitted to the hospital with a severe infection, the doctors acted with understandable caution. John himself felt an improvement and had been hoping to still come to us, but the doctors extended his stay to be on the safe side. We send him our very best wishes.
A similar talk will be given by another speaker in January next year.
