What makes people believe things that aren’t true?

At 2.30pm on Monday, 11 May, Dr Simon Clark will give a timely and thought-provoking talk entitled “What makes people believe things that aren’t true? The (surprising) psychology of misinformation”. Dr Clark is a scientist and member of an international team of researchers who are involved in testing how people respond to AI-generated information, such as deepfake videos, audio and written content.

Health Matters – Heartstart – your actions could save a life!
We are delighted to welcome back our member, Gerald Pilkington, for this talk. A few years ago, Gerald gave us a most interesting and informative talk and demonstration on what to do in a cardiac emergency. Time for a refresher!

4.30pm – 5.30pm – Wednesday 20 May

Hands-on science workshop – Bridging the energy gap: Are fruit and veg the answer? This fun physics session at Churcher’s College Science block will be led by Richard Hoe (Physics teacher) and Victoria Clinkskel (Physics Technician). All are welcome; no previous scientific knowledge is required. Refreshments will be provided by Churcher's for early arrivals. Science and Technology – Chernobyl: Science, Society …and Vodka!
Professor Jim Smith on his experiences of working in areas around Chernobyl and his work in Ukraine on the re-use of contaminated lands.
