The group is small and very informal with a wide range of interests and experience. There is some flexibility around the meeting day but it is generally agreed to be the third Thursday in the month.

We invite interested people to come along to meetings as guests in the first instance, to see if the group meets their needs. In the meeting, everyone has the opportunity to read their work, be it a set task, non-fiction article, story or poem. Constructive feedback is given aided by simple refreshments. A writing task is usually set for members to complete for the next meeting; there is always discussion and agreement about this.

One of the aims of the group is to encourage members to aim for publication of their writing, whether it is by way of competitions, magazine articles or a book. We have seen some success here, aided by workshops that we have organised/attended and participation in writing festivals, especially the Winchester Writers' Festival.
