Pickleball is a fun sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court, with a slightly modified tennis net.
Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball over a net. Even though Pickleball is like tennis, there are important differences that make it more accessible for children and seniors. The smaller surface area combined with the slower ball speed, and an underarm serve, make Pickleball easier to play than tennis.
The game is the fastest-growing game in the USA and is growing rapidly in the UK. It is a fun sport and good for social contact.
All members of the group need to have a level of mobility and awareness of the ball and of the players around them to not put at risk their own safety or that of others on court. You are welcome to come and watch some play if you are not sure.
