We listen to Jazz and talk about it to enjoy and learn more about this fascinating subject, which has over 125 years of history.
Occasionally, we watch Jazz played live or projected on a big screen.
Our group programme covers differing types of Jazz, sessions are organised and presented by members.
We try to ensure that everyone’s jazz interests are accommodated, at the same time opening up to new artists, jazz styles and formats.
All levels of interest and expertise are represented, from those wanting to ‘tip their toes in the water’ to those who have listened to and played jazz music for many years.
We welcome new members with fresh points of view on the subject – be it Swing, Blues, West Coast USA, Dixieland, Be Bop, Smooth Jazz, Modern British, Latin Jazz, etc.
With over thirty members in the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of the Exhibition Room at the Community Centre, we meet between September and June at 2.30 pm on the last Wednesday of the month.
In addition to the music presentations, we show jazz-related movies, and some of us regularly attend the Chichester Jazz Club, a twenty-five-year-old institution!
