Although it is seldom seen nowadays step dancing or ‘stepping’ was probably the most widespread of all British folk dances, because it could be practiced anywhere, and all it needed were feet and and tunes that could be whistled, sung or played.
With this talk and demonstration the tunes will be played on a fiddle. There is no set routine but we will have demonstrated by Jo and Cath how the steps can be put into simple social dance and can be great fun. In fact if anyone fancies their chances, there is a stepping session held in Shedfield near Wickham once a month !!
