13/03/2024 - First Walk
Leaders: Sue
Location: Bosham Quay
Thanks to Sue we had a lovely walk round Bosham Quay and back to see the interesting church then a good lunch at The Anchor Bleu. It was a cloudy morning but no rain, just the wind to contend with.
We had three new members join us, Elaine, Jane and Marjorie and another potential member Richard who came to meet us at the start.,
There were only nine of us on the walk with Eric and Silvia joining us for lunch .It was a shame that those who like shorter walks didn't/couldn't come, you missed a treat.
It was billed as an Ambler walk but as the majority of us wanted to walk a bit further we ended up doing 3 miles and we sensibly turned back to make sure we made it back before the tide really came in. Those not wanting to carry on turned back for a welcome cup of coffee at the pub.
It was amazing how quickly the tide came in, we were able to watch it while we had lunch.

10/04/2024 LISS
Leaders: Julia
Location: Liss
Twelve members had a really interesting 1.5 mile walk around Liss ably led by Julia with Brian acting as rearguard. We saw the Saxon church and visited the gravestones of the family of H G Wells and also visited the Victorian parish church. along the way. Their knowledge of local history added to the walk and we learnt among other things about Liss Manor and the site of the Roman villa. It was lovely to see the spring flowers blooming. The weather was not kind, we had a bit of rain but not enough to dampen our spirits
Lunch at the Spread Eagle was enjoyed by all
We welcomed another new member David, so I'm pleased to see the group is growing .
As usual my attempts at photography were not good but I attach those I did take
12/06/24 EAST MEON
Leaders: Lindsey
Location: East Meon
Lindsey led six members on this 2 mile easy walk starting and finishing at the Issac Walton Ph in the village.
We were lucky with the weather, sunshine all the way.
The walk took us pass the old cottages/houses of the village,
and the hamlet of Frogmore picking up the river Meon along the way. We enjoyed views of the surrounding countryside, and experienced a leafy lane.
As we had time we turned by the old Court house with its medieval hall( where we learnt they were holding an out door performance of the Importance of being Earnest) pass the small vineyard and onto the lovely village church.
We then headed back for lunch.
Apologies for the non existent photos I completely forgot to take any!
10/07/24 WINCHESTER HILL
Leaders: Lindsey
Location: Winchester Hill Nature Reserve
Only two of us made the 1. 8 mile walk this month which was a shame. We were blessed with the weather after days of wind and rain and despite some threatening dark clouds it kept dry and there was also some sun.
The wild meadows were looking lovely and we enjoyed views right across to the Isle of Wight on on side and the Meon valley on the other.
it was suggested we do the same walk again later in the year or in the evening when hopefully more people would enjoy the walk as well as the views.
11/09/2024 WINCHESTER HILL
Leaders: Lindsey
Location: Winchester Hill Nature Reserve
Having had to cancel the August walk due to covid , by special request we walked around Winchester hill again.
The weather this time was much better with sunshine all the time and we were blessed with some lovely views.
Its a lovely walk which I am happy to do at any time.
09/10/2024 DURLEIGH MARS
With thanks to Elaine we had a 2.5 mile walk this morning starting and finishing at Durleighmarsh tearooms. Despite the mud it was an excellent walk taken at a leisurely pace.
The weather was good and we had excellent views over to Butser Hill.
We followed the walk with coffee at the tea rooms which is very popular so if/when we walk the area again and want lunch we will have to book.
You will notice the lack of photos for these walks, I always forget, apologies and will try harder in future
06/11/2024 EMSWORTH POND
Leaders: Sue
With thanks to Sue we had a 2.4 mile walk on Wednesday round Emsworth Pond . The walk took us past the millpond into the centre of Emswoth where we stopped halfway round for excellent coffee at the Driftwood cafe. (Note to forgo breakfast next time and have it here it looks delicious). We then returned to the starting point via the harbour wall.
The weather was good with the sun making a brief appearance.
Easy walking on flat gravel paths . Two different views there and back as the tide came in. So we able to see the wading birds on our way out and I'm afraid the murky water of the harbour on our way back. (dont get me started on the polution!!)
