The u3a Country Walking group started in October 2012 and has had one walk almost every month.
The group has proved popular with generally 10 to 15 walkers each month. This group is intended for those who like countryside walks of about 8 miles.
A pub or café stop is incorporated roughly halfway. Walks are generally circular but public transport may be used to make some linear walks.
Latest Update

The U3A Country walking group takes the bus.
The group were lucky enough to have a dry and cool day for walking from Midhurst to Singleton, via Cocking Hill. Perfect in fact, even with a little sunshine along the way.
Parking on the edge on Midhurst we walked towards Heyshott, passing an obelisk commemorating Richard Cobden, a free trade pioneer of the mid-1800’s. The passing though beautiful autumn leaves near Heyshott, even re-visiting our childhoods, making the most of walking through the dry fallen leaves.
In Cocking village we managed to glimpse the unique and famous sculptures of Philip Jackson (CVO, DL), before ascending to the Cadence cafe on Cocking Hill (photo). Very tasty and reasonable snacks.
After lunch we passed through Singleton Forest, where a lot of forestry work is going on. After some debate we identified the felled Western Red Cedar crossed over Levin Down amongst some very nice looking “brown cows”. Dropped down into Singleton before catching the frequent nr 60 service back to Midhurst. An excellent 8 mile walk.
